  If you enjoyed chocolate milk as a kid, you'll love the grown-up version from Veil Brewing. Their barrel-aged Imperial Milk Chocolate Stout is the base for their signature Whangdoodle. This whimsically-named brew is also available in different flavors, such as Apple Brandy and Buttered Pecan, which are made by aging the stout in bourbon or brandy barrels and adding special ingredients. Hours are 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. - 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday.

  The name is straight and to the point. Winter White from Legend Brewing Co. is their seasonal version of a Belgian wheat beer. The creative combination of banana, pear, and bubblegum flavors is complemented by coriander and orange peel.   Gingerbread Stout from Hardywood Park Craft Brewery is often referred to as "Christmas in a bottle." But don't let that stop you, as this mix of Imperial Stout, ginger, and honey makes a perfect drink for the winter season. Farmhouse Pumpkin incorporates Virginia-grown sugar pie pumpkins from Snake Creek Farms along with locally sourced nutmeg, allspice, clove, and fresh ginger root. Pair your drink with a hand-stretched pizza from the onsite kitchen. Fido is welcome in the outdoor seating area.   Since 2016, Trapezium Brewing Co. has been a popular gathering spot near Petersburg homes for sale. One of their top brews is Father Brian's Bourbon Barrel Brown, which has received the official blessing of its namesake. A portion of all sales benefits St. Peter Pro-Cathedral. Another good winter variety is Belgian Beauty, a malty Dark Strong Ale with raisin and plum flavors. Available food includes Neapolitan-style pizza fired in a brick oven, as well as appetizers and desserts. Check the calendar for live music, trivia, and bingo nights.   Is it beer or dessert? You may have a hard time deciding when you try the Woodbooger Belgian-Style Brown Ale from Strangeways Brewing. The ale is brewed with two kinds of sugar and aged with bourbon vanilla beans, resulting in notes of caramel, chocolate, and roasted malt. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor biergarten, which hosts a rotating lineup of local food trucks. Strangeways is open 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon - 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon - 6 p.m. Sunday.
