• Decorate With Greenery
  A little greenery can really freshen up a space. Simply adding another color – green – to the decorating scheme can make a darker room feel more open. Plants are also a big part of the recent trend toward eco-friendly, sustainable design. Put a snake plant in the corner, hang a trellis with ivy on one wall, or create your own window sill garden with herbs and flowers.
  
  
• Paint an Accent Wall
  If clearing out and painting an entire room feels like too much, consider painting just one wall. Choose an on-trend color that coordinates well with the existing wall color. The Pantone Color of the Year for 2023 is Viva Magenta, which would really add some "pop" to a gray or beige living room. You'll probably only need 1 gallon of paint for an accent wall, making this project exceptionally affordable.
  
  
• Hang Up Vintage Objects
  If your home has a bit of an old-fashioned look, embrace it. Vintage is trendy right now, and you can lean into this look by hanging some vintage artwork and decor on the walls. • Update Your Cabinet Hardware
  Older cabinets will look surprisingly newer if you simply swap out the old hardware for newer, sleeker hardware. Opt for drawer pulls and cabinet handles made from brushed nickel or polished steel. The simple look is in right now.

  Overly detailed light fixtures are out, and simple light fixtures are in. If your overhead lights are looking dated, consider replacing them with some new models.   If your home has older, beige, or white plastic switch plate covers, swap them out for some newer ones. All you have to do is remove two or three screws, pull the old plate off the wall, and then screw the new one into place. Stainless steel and black covers are on-trend right now. 
  
  
• Paint the Crown Molding
  Crown molding can make rooms look overly ornate and outdated. Instead of removing it, which can be quite a big project, consider painting it a bright color. This gives it an artsy, modern vibe. Since the color is located so far up the wall, it won't look as intense as if you were to paint the whole wall.
  
  
• Paint the Front Door
  If it's your home's facade that could use a makeover, consider painting your front door. Both wood and aluminum front doors can be painted. Just make sure you choose a paint that's compatible with your door material. Choose a color that matches your home's siding and trim but one that also stands out from it.
